Peronella#

Whilst searching for variants of “Jack the Giant Killer”, on archive.org, I came across Tabart’s collection of popular stories for the nursery from 1804. Originally in four volumes in the period 1804-1809, only the first volume appears to be available via the Internet Archive or as a viewable work on Google Books.

Included in the first volume is this “is the grass greener on the other side?” type of tale. The message is essentially “be happy with what your own station in life”, but if suitably framed, I think it could be quite fun to tell.
